How often do I have to renew my license?
You must renew your license every two years. License expiration occurs on odd numbered years, i.e.: 2015, 2017, 2019, etc..

I do not own a computer or use a computer.
Computer access is necessary to transact with the system and complete the renewal of your Board license. Computers are available to the public at local libraries, Senior Citizen Centers, Community Centers, and in addition, the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology will have computers available for licensee use. Board staff will be pleased to assist you through the process. Please contact our office should you need assistance.

What if I don't have an EMAIL Account?  A FREE email account may be obtained by clicking on one of the following links: Hotmail Google Mail Yahoo Mail

I do not have a credit card or I do not use credit cards on the internet?
The system will accept pre-paid debit cards (e.g. pre-paid Discover, MasterCard or Visa debit cards), which can be purchased at local grocery or department store outlets (e.g. Kroger, Giant Eagle, Walmart, etc.).  You will only need to “load” the card with the amount needed to complete the renewal transaction.  Using a pre-paid card will not transact or associate with your personal banking or credit card accounts

What does it mean to put my license in Escrow?
A license that is in an INACTIVE (formerly Escrow) status is NOT valid for working in a salon. A renewal payment must be submitted each renewal period in order for the license to remain current. Continuing education is NOT required until the time the license is returned to an ACTIVE status.

What happens if I renew late?
If you do not renew your license by the expiration date, a $45 late fee will be charged.

PLEASE NOTE:

• If you did not renew your license and the expiration date on the license is January 31, 2015 or earlier, you need to complete our Amnesty Program. CLICK HERE to complete the Amnesty Request Form.

• If your license has a 2017 expiration date you can renew now with a late fee of $45.
