Upcoming License Renewal
The Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board will open the Elicense online renewal portal for cosmetology and branch of cosmetology license holders on October 3, 2020. As a condition of renewing an Ohio license, completion of the required CE hours will be verified through CE Broker. If CE hours are not reported as completed in CE Broker, the licensee will not be permitted to complete the online renewal process until CE is reported as complete. As a reminder, when giving your license number for a CE class, you must use the pre-fix and license number (example: COS.111111). If pre-fix and number are not accurate, credit will not show in your CE Broker account.
All CE providers are required to submit class attendance to CE Broker. Please log in to your CE Broker account or create an account to review reported hours and identify missing CE prior to renewing your license. Click here to log in to or activate your CE Broker account
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on May 12, 2020, the Board voted to waive the five required hours of CE regarding scope-specific subject matter for individuals licensed under Chapter 4713 of the Revised Code, and two of the four required hours of CE regarding safety and infection for individuals registered under Chapter 4713 of the Revised Code, for the 2019-2021 biennial licensing period. Licensees and boutique registrants are still required to complete one (1) hour of Laws & Rules CE and two (2) hours of Safety and Sanitation CE. Both of these required courses are available at no cost on the Board’s website. All required continuing education must be completed by January 15, 2021.
